President Vladimir Zelensky on Tuesday, August 27, held a press conference where he commented on the operation of the Defense Forces in the Kursk region.
Vladimir Zelensky held a press conference. One of its main topics is the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. The head of state also touched on domestic policy issues and possible negotiations with the Russian Federation.
Plan for success
The Kursk operation is one of the points of Ukraine’s victory plan, Zelensky said. According to him, it made it possible to stop the occupation of the Kharkov region and prevent the occupation of the Sumy and Chernigov regions, as well as to defeat a large number of enemy troops. As a result, the Russian army moved units from the direction of Kharkov and Zaporozhye, but not yet from the Donetsk region, where the most trained Russian troops are located.
“The Kursk region is included in our plan for the victory of Ukraine… There are some things that I cannot talk about… One of the directions of the plan, some of which have already been completed, is the region of Kursk. The second direction is Ukraine’s strategic place in the world’s security infrastructure. The third direction – a strong package of pressure on Russia to end the diplomatic economic war,” said Zelensky.
The president said he will present a victory plan to US President Joe Biden and presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in September.
“It is only fair that I present this plan to the President of the United States first. The success of this plan depends on him, whether they give us what is in this plan or not. And I think the right thing to do is take this plan to Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Because we don’t know who will be the president of the US. And I really want to implement this plan,” Zelensky stressed.
First ballistic missile
Zelensky said Ukraine continues to develop its military-industrial complex and has already developed its first ballistic missile.
“What are the other developments of Ukraine, I thought it was too early to talk about it, but… There was a test – positive – of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile, I congratulate our military-industrial complex here,” the president mentioned.
He added that he could not say more about the missile, but decided to disclose this information so that the public can appreciate “our people who work 24/7 in defense businesses.”
Dialogue with Putin
Zelensky said that at this stage, talks with Vladimir Putin are pointless, because the head of the aggressor state does not want to end the war unleashed against Ukraine through diplomacy.
“It’s not like there are compromises with Putin, in principle, talking to Putin now… is empty, pointless because he doesn’t want the war to end diplomatically, but (in the same way time is needed) to give he 30% of our land.
For me, you can’t be with him here,” Zelensky said.
The head of state added that the Kursk operation “helped a lot” in Ukraine to reduce the number of votes on this topic.
However, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov also said on August 27 that the negotiations with Ukraine “have lost their relevance.”
Russian gas
Ukraine does not intend to renew the gas transit agreement with Russia, which expires at the end of 2024, and in the event of a request from Europe, it is ready to discuss the transfer of gas from other supplier through its gas transportation system, Zelensky said.
“No one will renew the agreement with Russia, that is the end of it regarding the transfer of gas from other companies, if the request of some of our colleagues in Europe continues, and we are all in the European Union, we will consider their request,” he said.
At the same time, the president noted that he had no information about the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia.
“I don’t know what the old grandfather is talking about in Azerbaijan, I’m not sure if it’s about gas, I think there are other questions,” Zelensky said.
Did Tatarov kill the Chechens?
Zelensky emotionally answered the question about the effectiveness of the OP team and the request to review the work, in particular, the Deputy Chairman of the OP Oleg Tatarov,
“About Tatarov… The United States and everyone knows that Oleg Tatarov, together with Vasily Malyuk, killed Chechens in Ukraine in Kyiv while you were not here.
little? Send him out so the Russians can kill him?” Zelensky said.
At the beginning of the mass invasion, Ukrainian intelligence reported the destruction of Chechen units whose goal was to eliminate Vladimir Zelensky.
