The industry publication Defense Express reported how long Shahed drones can fly, circling over Ukraine to distract air defenses.
If the missile threat continued into the night and into the morning of August 26 for several hours, the enemy raised attack UAVs into the sky in the dead of night and because of them the air raid alert in the central regions lasted for more than 14 hours.
Against this background, it becomes obvious that one of the tasks of some of the drones was to directly distract air defense forces and assets, the publication writes.
The Shahed-136 is known to have a cruising speed of 180 km/h and its range is listed as 1,500 km. This means that the estimated air time of the Shahed-136 is about 8.5 hours.
But Western sources also estimate the Shahed-136’s flight range at 2,500 km, which, at a similar cruising speed, means a flight time of almost 14 hours.
