A Paris court has extended the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
The billionaire will be held in custody for at least another 48 hours. Thus, the period of his detention has been increased to 96 hours. Within the next two days, Durov must either be charged or released. This was reported by AFP.
However, it is noted that during the investigation of particularly serious crimes in France, arrest may be extended up to 144 hours.
Let us recall that on August 24, at Le Bourget airport, French security forces detained the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov. During the preliminary investigation, law enforcement officers accuse him of terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, selling stolen goods and sexual crimes against children.
The French accuse Durov of not moderating the service and not working with the investigation. He could face up to 20 years in prison.
