TsAGAL said it carried out preemptive strikes because Hezbollah was preparing to fire missiles into Israeli territory.
Hezbollah announced the launch of an attack on Israel in response to the killing of its commander Fuad Shukr. The Times of Israel reports this
In its statement, Hezbollah said it had launched several attack drones targeting military targets.
The Saudi publication Al Arabiya reports that more than 100 rockets were also fired from Lebanese territory into northern Israel.
Israel says it is introducing restrictions for the safety of civilians. Educational institutions and workplaces will be able to function if there is enough accommodation nearby that can be reached in time.
There will be restrictions on gatherings: up to 30 people in open spaces and 300 indoors. Beaches are also closed near the border with Lebanon.
Earlier, the IDF carried out strikes on Hezbollah targets as it prepared to launch rockets and shells from Lebanon into Israeli territory. TsAGAL reported this on its Telegram channel.
After the strikes, life-saving recommendations for the population in selected areas of Israel will be issued in accordance with the situational assessment of the Defense Forces command.
Army spokesman Daniel Hagari said CSAAL “recently discovered” that the terrorist organization Hezbollah was preparing to launch missiles toward Israeli territory. In self-defense to eliminate these threats, “the Israelis are striking terrorist targets in Lebanon, where Hezbollah plans to launch attacks on Israeli civilians.”
Hagari added that Hezbollah will soon continue firing rockets and possibly drones into Israeli territory.
“We see that Hezbollah is preparing for a large-scale attack on Israel, putting Lebanese civilians at risk. We warn civilians in areas where Hezbollah operates to immediately leave the danger zone for their own safety,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
He also added that Israel will not tolerate terrorist attacks on its civilian population.
Recall that on August 6, Hezbollah launched a two-drone strike in northern Israel, resulting in six casualties.
