The policy of the European Union is “self-destructive”, and the actions of the European Commission are “shameful”, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó.
The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó, accused the European Commission of allegedly deliberately trying to disrupt the normal energy supply of his country, without intervening in the issue of stopping the transit of LUKOIL oil. This was confirmed by a message from government representative Zoltan Kovacs on the social network X.
“Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó criticized the European Commission for its inaction on the issue of Lukoil oil transit, suggesting that the lack of intervention indicates that instructions are being sent from Brussels to Kyiv to block supplies of energy in Hungary and Slovakia,” the notice said.
The policy of the EU is “self-destructive” and the actions of the European Commission are “shameful”, believes Szijjártó, and stresses that Brussels “must protect the main security interests of its member states from the actions of a candidate country.”
“The fact that the European Commission has openly stated that it will not contribute to ensuring energy supplies in Hungary and Slovakia only deepens the suspicion that Brussels ordered Kyiv to create these problems,” the minister assured.
Hungary will soon conclude a long-term agreement that will “guarantee the continuation of oil cooperation with Russia,” a Hungarian official said.
As you know, in July, Hungary and Slovakia announced the cessation of oil supplies from the Russian company Lukoil through Ukraine due to Kiev’s addition of the company to the list of sanctions. Hungary and Slovakia have asked the European Commission to start consultations on a trade agreement with Ukraine.
