On the Independence Day of Ukraine, the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade was awarded the honorary title “Ghosts of Kyiv”. The ceremony took place on Sophia Square in Kyiv.
In the spring of 2022, the “Ghosts of Kyiv”, the unbending and unbowed flight crews of all aviation units of the Air Force, heroically defended the capital from enemy invasion from the sky. Having won the battle for Kyiv and driven enemy aircraft out of Ukrainian airspace, the defenders of Ukraine entered into air defense and combat duty in all strategic directions.
