One of the goals of the agreement is to prevent the Russians from attacking the Sumy region and occupying the city of Sumy, the president said.
The operation of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation is complicated, but it is going according to plan and bearing fruit. President Vladimir Zelensky said this at a press conference in Kyiv on Saturday, August 24.
“The operation is complicated, the important thing is that it is in line with our plan.
He recalled the exchange fund, which was actively replenished thanks to the operation in the Kursk region.
“First of all, the exchange fund, it’s filled, it’s positive. Second, it’s a stop to Russia’s operation in the north, a preventive strike that our operation has done,” Zelensky said.
According to him, one of the objectives of the operation was to prevent the Russians from attacking the Sumy region.
“We stopped the siege of part of the Sumy region and the desire to occupy Sumy someone is playing it as a card for dialogue, we are not playing any cards.
Zelensky is convinced that all the goals set by Ukraine will be achieved.
“Regarding all the objectives of the operation, I believe that all of them will achieve more of them than what I said publicly,” he added.
But the operation in the Kursk region also showed the world who Vladimir Putin is – for him, the occupation of the territory of Ukraine is more important than the protection of its population, the president emphasized.
I am very happy that we showed everything that I talked about with our training partners. He is still thinking about how to hold the captured territories and not thinking about how to protect his people. “He is now bombing his villages,” Zelensky summed up.
As you know, in early August, Ukraine launched a military operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The Armed Forces of Ukraine control more than 1250 square meters. km of territory and more than 90 settlements in the Kursk region.
