A Ukrainian soldier has declared a hunger strike due to poor conditions in one of the hospitals in the Odessa region.
Thus, combat medic of the 35th Marine Brigade Petro Konoplya announced a hunger strike due to unsatisfactory conditions of stay in the Odessa Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 2. In the video, the paramedic said that patients are fed overcooked food, and there is mold on the walls of the wards. On August 23, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets reported this on Telegram.
According to him, the investigation showed that the information from the serviceman was confirmed. The ombudsman emphasized that the conditions in which patients, including servicemen, are located are “completely unsatisfactory and do not meet the established standards.”
Also, during the inspection it became known that this medical institution is in the final stage of reorganization and is joining the KNP “Odessa Regional Mental Health Center”. Letters with recommendations to eliminate the shortcomings have already been sent to the relevant government agencies.
Lubinets reported that, based on information received from the regional military administration and the Department of Health, appropriate management decisions will be made in the near future, in particular, it is possible to hold persons responsible for food administratively liable, as well as to consider the issue of renewing contracts with another supplier.
Let us recall that recently the Territorial Integration Centers officially stated that lawyers should not interfere in mobilization processes. At the same time, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets stated that not allowing lawyers to participate in the mobilization process contradicts the current legislation.
