In Odessa, the SBU military counterintelligence detained an FSB agent who reported to the Russian special service on March 15, 2024, about the consequences of the double strike on the regional center.
The detainee is a local realtor. This was reported today, August 23, by the SBU press center.
On March 15, Russian invaders attacked Odessa’s civilian infrastructure with Iskander-M ballistic missiles:
- when rescuers, National Police officers and medics arrived at the landing site, the Russians hit them with a second missile;
- Immediately after this, an FSB agent arrived at the scene, conducted additional reconnaissance there and passed on to the occupiers information about the affected objects and the estimated number of dead and wounded.
After “leaking” information about the consequences of the double missile strike, the traitor continued to carry out tasks to adjust enemy fire.
Among the enemy’s priority targets were temporary bases of defense forces in the regional center. To collect intelligence, the realtor “blindly” used connections among his clients, the SBU notes.
The defendant’s crimes were documented step by step during a special operation by the SBU. He was detained when he was preparing to hand over new intelligence to the aggressor.
It is noted that the suspect communicated with the Russian special service through his acquaintance, a member of the Russian occupation groups who took part in the capture of Mariupol and Bakhmut.
The militant then passed on intelligence information to his brother, who was part of the FSB unit stationed in the Donbass TOT.
Facts of informational subversive activity by the FSB agent were also established.
We are talking about his provocative comments on the YouTube video hosting site, where he spread fakes about Ukrainian defenders and justified the war crimes of Russians, the SBU notes.
During the search, mobile phones and laptops were seized from the detainee. He was informed of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 1 of Article 161 (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics);
- Part 1 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legality, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property, the SBU added.
