The organizers of the rally prepared a statement demanding the severance of diplomatic relations with Belarus.
A rally was held near the Belarusian Embassy in Yerevan. The protesters demanded the expulsion of the Belarusian ambassador from the country and the severing of diplomatic relations with Minsk. Radio Liberty reported this on Wednesday, August 21.
In the end, the demonstrators threw eggs, tomatoes and potatoes at the Belarusian embassy building.
The reason for the rally was the offensive statements of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about Armenia.
On August 20, in an interview with the Russian state TV channel, Lukashenko said: “Who needs Armenians except us without Macron – that’s all they will forget about this Armenia.”
The rally was organized by supporters of the For the Name of the Republic party, including party leader Arman Babajanyan. They also prepared a statement demanding the severance of diplomatic relations with Belarus.
We remind you that Armenia has recalled its ambassador from Belarus. Minsk took a similar step and recalled its ambassador from Yerevan.
Earlier, in May, Pashinyan said that two CSTO countries helped prepare for war against Armenia. At the same time, he quickly reacted to what Lukashenko said in a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on May 16.
