Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, African countries where pro-Russian military juntas have seized power, accuse Ukraine of supporting terrorists.
This is stated in a letter to the UN Security Council, which was published on the social media pages of the “Alliance of Sahel States,” an association created by the juntas of these countries.
In a letter to the head of the UN Security Council, the foreign ministers of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger “strongly condemned the Ukrainian government’s overt and alleged support for terrorist groups operating in the Sahel.”
The authors of the letter also called on the Security Council to “take measures to put an end to this support, which threatens stability in the region.”
The Sahel Alliance, formed by Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger about a year ago, severing military ties with France and other European countries and turning toward Russia.
Recently, the military juntas of Mali and Niger announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of supporting “terrorist groups” after Tuareg rebels attacked a convoy of the Russian private military company Wagner in Mali.
