In addition to Telegram, WhatsApp, Skype, Discord and iMessage also began to have problems working in the Russian Federation, as well as accessing the gaming platform Steam, Wikipedia and some other applications and sites.

In Russia, on August 21, problems were recorded with the operation of dozens of popular services, including Telegram, WhatsApp, Apple Services, Steam and Pornhub. This was reported by Russian telegram channels and RosSMI.

It is noted that the problems with instant messengers first started with Telegram. Users, mainly from Russia and Uzbekistan, complained about long loading and updating messages. This follows from data from the Downdetector service. Users in Uzbekistan also experienced the glitch.

It is reported that in Russia the messenger only works with VPN.

In addition to Telegram, WhatsApp, Skype, Discord and iMessage also began to have problems working in the Russian Federation, as well as accessing the gaming platform Steam, Wikipedia and some other applications and sites.

Roskomnadzor explained the failure of Telegram, WhatsApp and other services as a “DDOS attack on Russian telecom operators.”

Earlier it was reported that in Russia, YouTube users began to complain about the complete stop of video hosting.

Let’s remember that in March there was a big failure in the Russian Federation: Russians complained about the operation of digital services.
