Dozens of dead dogs are found in landfills in Turkey, their deaths the result of the “mass killing law.”
Stray dogs are a common sight on the streets of Turkish cities. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has decided to change this by amending the animal protection law, which encourages mass killings of homeless four-legged creatures, writes Bild.
Erdogan pushed the bill through parliament on July 30. Although the law only allows sick and aggressive dogs to be euthanized under the supervision of veterinarians, Turkish animal rights activists regularly report mass killings that violate this rule, posting photos of dog bodies dumped in landfills like garbage.
They called the new law “the law on mass murder.” The opposition in parliament protests in vain against the law on dogs.
