The German leader said his country would continue to support Ukraine, providing a loan of €50 billion with the G7.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday, August 19, responded to media publications about the alleged reduction in German aid to Ukraine. He emphasized that Germany remains Ukraine’s biggest fan in Europe.
“Germany is and remains the strongest fan of Ukraine in Europe,” Scholz said in a message on the social network. X.
The Chancellor noted that his country will continue to support Ukraine, providing a loan of €50 billion with the G7.
“We continue our support: a loan of 50 billion euros, which we provide from the G7 It will allow Ukraine to buy weapons in bulk,” he added.
Earlier, it was reported that the current budget planning of the German federal government does not provide for the allocation of new funds to support Ukraine. The opposition is talking about a financial freeze and, subsequently, military support for Kyiv.
The German government denied these rumors, saying that by the end of 2024, as well as next year, Germany plans to transfer several more air defense systems, tanks, self-propelled guns and ammunition in Ukraine.
