The head of the military department of the Moscow Patriarchate announced the creation of an operational headquarters to support the army.
The Russian Orthodox Church called the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region an “attack of the Satanists.” This was stated by the Metropolitan of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk Kirill Pokrovsky, who heads the military department of the Moscow Patriarchate.
His speech at the Kursk Cathedral on Sunday, August 18, was published by the opposition Russian publication Sota.
During the sermon, the hierarch of the Russian church expressed regret that “the foot of the Nazis and Satanists entered our great territory.”
Kirill also added that he and his colleague, Metropolitan German, held a prayer for victory and asked for help from Vladimir Putin, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, military personnel and their leadership, representatives of all law enforcement agencies and military chaplains.
The Metropolitan added that the Russian Orthodox Church in the region has created an operational headquarters to support the army.
It was previously reported that the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches supported the banning of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
