Today, August 18, at approximately 05:00, Russian invaders used ballistic weapons to launch a missile strike on Kyiv.
This was reported by the press service of the KMVAs.
This is already the third ballistic shelling of the capital in August with a clear interval of 6 days between each attack! – emphasizes the head of KMVA Sergey Popko.
It is noted that this attack, according to preliminary data, was almost identical to the two previous ones:
- The Resolute have most likely used North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles for the third time in a row;
- and again the air defense forces and means did not allow the enemy to hit the capital.
According to preliminary data, the ballistic missiles were hit as they approached the capital.
In addition, almost simultaneously with the ballistics, several enemy attack UAVs were heading towards Kyiv. But our air defense warriors made sure that Kiev residents did not even hear the sounds of combat operations. All enemy drones were destroyed far beyond the city, Popko added.
Moreover, two hours after the attempt to launch a ballistic strike – at approximately 07:00 – the enemy attacked Kyiv with cruise missiles.
“Preliminary type of weapons of the Iskander-K type,” Popko noted. “After long complex maneuvers across the territory of several regions, the missiles tried to hit targets from the southern direction. All hostile targets were destroyed by air defense forces and means!
As of August 18, there is no damage or casualties in Kyiv.
