Republican Donald Trump has spent more time preparing for the 2024 debates than he did in 2016 or 2020.
US presidential candidate Republican Donald Trump has tapped former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to prepare for a debate with her rival Democratic representative Kamala Harris. The New York Times reported this on Saturday, August 17, citing its own sources.
They explained that the woman was recruited to prepare by her performance in the 2019 Democratic primary. Then he “smashed Harris on stage.”
The NYT notes that Gabbard has a “long friendship” with Trump and left the Democratic Party after the 2020 presidential campaign.
In this regard, Trump’s press secretary, Caroline Levitt, confirmed to reporters the participation of the former congresswoman in preparation for the debate. Levitt said Trump “will continue to meet with trusted policy advisers and effective communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who dominated Kamala Harris in 2020.”
As the NYT recalled, Gabbard said in a 2019 debate that when Harris was district attorney in San Francisco, “he jailed more than 1,500 people for marijuana offenses, and then laughed it off when asked if he smoked him.”
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris leads her Republican rival Donald Trump in five of seven key states.
