The expenses of the Ukrainian authorities on the military and the production of weapons and equipment are constantly and significantly increasing.
The Ukrainian state should soon come to the issue of raising taxes. The head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced this on Saturday, August 17, during the broadcast of the national telethon.
“I think we really need to solve the issue. Of course, Ukraine should collect more taxes,” he said.
He explained this by the fact that the war was financed by the country’s state budget. And because of the increase in the frontline and the number of mobilized people, the country must collect more taxes.
“There is a need to pay salaries to our military. After all, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are financed from the state budget of Ukraine, everything else is still financed by our partners. We see that the front is growing, the number of those mobilized increases – this is elementary mathematics,” – said Stefanchuk.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada added that politicians could start reviewing taxation issues in September 2024.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance said it was impossible to avoid the tax hike, as all other sources of increased funding for the defense sector had been exhausted.
We remind you that the government has approved a bill to amend the tax code of Ukraine to bring the country’s legislation closer to EU legislation in terms of excise tax rates.
