In Sumy Oblast, restrictions are being introduced on staying in the 20-kilometer border zone.
The press service of the Sumy Department of Internal Affairs reported this.
Today, the territories in the 20-kilometer zone, as noted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky, are the rear defensive line of our troops. Access to these territories will be limited. Representatives of the defense forces will control entry to certain sections of the border, – emphasized the head of the OVA Volodymyr Artyukh.
He noted that the algorithm and procedure for the presence of civilians in this area are being agreed upon.
First of all, we do this to protect our defenders and prevent the enemy from obtaining important information about the locations of the Defense Forces and their material support, he added.
Also in the Sumy region, evacuation continues from settlements located at a distance of five and 10 km from the line of contact.
According to the head of the OVA, the security situation in the border areas remains tense – despite the reduction in artillery and mortar shelling, the enemy is actively using guided aerial bombs and other air-to-air weapons.
The number of KAV strikes has increased several times. If up to 400 such strikes were recorded in the first six months, then in the last 10 days alone there have already been more than 200, he noted. “The enemy is ruthless, it destroys our infrastructure, but the worst thing is that it kills civilians.”
It is noted that:
- Evacuation from the five-kilometer zone in Sumy Oblast has been planned for over a year. A significant portion of the residents of these areas have left their homes;
- in the Velikopisarevskaya and Seredino-Budskaya communities, the forced evacuation of families with children continues;
- Recently, a mandatory evacuation of the population from 23 settlements in the Sumy region was announced.
