Ukrainians paralyze the work of an enterprise that develops Russian nuclear weapons near Chelyabinsk, successfully attacking a local supplier.
Cyber experts from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, together with the hacker group VO Team, paralyzed the work of an enterprise that develops Russian nuclear weapons near Chelyabinsk, successfully attacking a local provider.
“As a result of a successful attack on the only provider in the city of Snezhinsk, Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation – the Vega company – its 1,173 switches and 10 servers were disabled Information on Vega servers is destroyed,” the GUR reported on Telegram.
It was reported that some strategic businesses in the city were without Internet service and communication for almost a week.
Among them is the All-Russian Research Institute of Technical Physics (VNIITF). It’s a Russian nuclear weapons developer connected only to the Vega provider.
“The successful attack of the aggressor in cyberspace made it possible to obtain personal data of workers and a set of other documents from the specified plant, which is under sanctions,” said GUR. The information obtained, in particular, makes it possible to identify the mechanisms for avoiding sanctions and the people involved.
The consequence of the cyber operation is the threat of disrupting the defense order of the aggressor state, as evidenced by comments on local public pages.
Let’s recall that the government response team CERT-UA previously recorded the mass distribution of emails with malicious software, allegedly sent on behalf of the Security Service of Ukraine.
