It is expected that the budget in Germany will be approved in November and only then will the level of support for Ukraine for next year be known.
Reports about the German government’s alleged termination of military aid to Ukraine are incorrect and manipulative, said Georgy Tikhy, spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“Reports that Germany has allegedly stopped military aid to Ukraine are incorrect.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said a budget process is indeed underway in Germany, “which we are closely monitoring.” According to him, the budget is expected to be approved in November and only then will the level of support for Ukraine be known for the next year.
“Currently, as in the past, the German government has planned a certain amount of aid to Ukraine in the draft budget It is similar to what was planned last year at this stage of the budget process parliamentary stage of adopting the budget in the fall.” , Tikhy reminded.
He assured that the Ukrainian side continues to work with German partners to maintain and strengthen support for Ukraine. “We emphasize that every euro invested in strengthening the defense capabilities of our state is a contribution to the security of all of Europe against the backdrop of Russian aggression,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
He added that the Ukrainian side is grateful to Germany, which remains at the forefront of European countries in terms of support for Ukraine, and also noted that German aid has already saved thousands of lives in Ukraine and is strategically important for in protecting future lives.
“We hope that the German government will find the possibility of additional funding for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces this year as well,” Tikhy said.
The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry also expressed hope for a quick and non-bureaucratic implementation of the decision of the leaders of the Group of Seven to use the proceeds from the frozen assets of Russia in favor of Ukraine.
“In our opinion, these funds should not replace, but complement ongoing European and German aid,” he said.
Let’s remember that earlier there were reports that the current budget planning of the German federal government does not provide for the allocation of new funds in support of Ukraine the opposition is talking about a financial freeze, and therefore military support for Kyiv.
