The actions of the correspondents “fall under the scope of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Italian Ambassador Ceccilia Piccioni after correspondents from the Italian state television channel RAI reported from a part of the Kursk region controlled by Ukraine. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian department did not like the fact that foreign journalists ended up on Russian territory, so the ambassador “expressed a strong protest” related to the actions of the film crew.
The Foreign Ministry says it allegedly “violates Russian law and the rules of journalistic ethics.”
The ministry added that the actions of the correspondents “are subject to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.”
“Competent Russian agencies are taking the necessary steps to establish the circumstances of the crime committed by RAI employees for their legal assessment and take appropriate measures,” assured the representatives of the ruling regime of Russian Federation.
