Russian occupiers have come very close to the city of Mirnograd in the Donetsk region.
The line of combat engagement is currently approximately 6 km from the city. There are approximately 20,000 people in the settlement, of which approximately 1,000 are children. Many residents are evacuating themselves, but there are also those who refuse to leave. Acting Mirnohrad City Military Administration Yuriy Tretyak reported this in a commentary to Radio Liberty.
People are leaving, but not as quickly, as quickly as we would like, as the situation requires. First of all, we are trying to organize the evacuation of children and elderly people who have difficulty taking care of themselves, who have problems with movement. Many are leaving on their own, after all. Because explosions are constantly heard, artillery shelling is constantly heard, even in the outskirts of the community, – the official said.
Local authorities are calling people to evacuate, and together with the police and employees of the State Emergency Service, they are going around to the homes of city residents. They plan to evacuate all people from Mirnohrad by the end of August.
Let us recall that on August 14, in the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army occupied Zhelanne, Orlovka, and also managed to advance in Nikolaevka and Zhuravka. The enemy is getting closer to Pokrovsk – there are just over 10 km left to the outskirts of the city.
