The Secret Service has ordered several sets of glasses located in different parts of the country and will be transported to where they are needed using trucks.
The US Secret Service will protect former US President Donald Trump during his outdoor campaign rallies and surround him with bulletproof glass. ABC News reported this on Thursday, August 15.
It was noted that such measures became necessary after an incident in July, when at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a sniper fired at Trump from a rooftop located not far from the stage. Then the shot hit him in the ear, and one of the spectators in the crowd died.
As journalists point out, since July 13, Trump has held almost a dozen campaign events, but indoors. However, Trump wants to return to street events, because more people will come there.
The Secret Service now plans to use bulletproof panels to surround Trump on three sides during his speeches. Sources say it is unclear when exactly the panels will begin to be used. According to experts, they are large, bulky and require additional effort during transportation.
It is known that after the Butler incident, former Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle strengthened the security of Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The protection of other protected persons is also strengthened.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris leads her Republican rival Donald Trump in five of seven key states.
