The European Union has transferred a tranche of macrofinancial aid to Ukraine in the amount of 4.2 billion euros.
This money was received within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program. The government will direct these funds to social programs, the humanitarian sphere and other important budget programs. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this on Telegram on August 13.
According to him, since the beginning of 2024, the European Union has transferred more than 12 billion euros in budget support to Ukraine. By the end of the year, Kyiv expects to receive another tranche of aid.
The head of government noted that the Cabinet of Ministers continues to implement reforms that are important for the sustainability, development and future of the state.
Shmyhal also stressed that Ukraine’s military expenditures continue to be financed exclusively from its own resources.
Let us recall that on August 5, Ukraine received $3.9 billion in a non-repayable grant from the United States. The government stated that the funds received through the World Bank would help finance priority budget expenditures. In particular, they will have to be spent on salaries for teachers, doctors and rescuers, and social benefits.
