Switzerland sees the need for Russia’s presence at the second Global Peace Summit in Ukraine.
Russia should be present at the next peace summit. This is what Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said on the social network X on Monday, August 12.
The Foreign Minister signed a joint declaration with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, in which he expressed “deep concern” about Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. At the same time, Cassis said that Moscow should be present at the next peace summit.
“We support holding a second peace summit with the participation of all parties, including Russia,” the minister said.
Let’s remember that on June 15-16 the first Peace Summit was held in Switzerland with the participation of 100 countries and international organizations.
President Vladimir Zelensky said that most countries in the world prefer Russia to participate in the second peace summit, so Ukraine cannot be against the initiative.
Ukraine is considering several locations to host a second global peace summit. Specifically, the event could be held in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
The Kremlin says Russia is ready for dialogue on the “Ukrainian settlement,” but Moscow must understand what will be discussed at the second Peace Summit.
