The Governor of the Kursk region of Russia, Alexey Smirnov, stated in his Telegram channel that the city of Kurchatov, where the Kursk NPP is located, and several neighboring districts of the Kursk region were left without electricity today, August 9, in the evening due to an alleged drone attack on a transformer substation.
As a result of the fall of debris from a Ukrainian aircraft-type UAV onto a transformer substation in one of the regions, a fire broke out, the official said.
There is no power supply in Kurchatov, as well as in parts of Kurchatovsky, Oktyabrsky, Velikosoldatsky, Oboyansky, Belovsky districts. Emergency work is underway. Connection of consumers is planned using backup schemes, he added.
