The United States is taking the operation in the Kursk region of Russia calmly.
We do not believe that this is in any way an escalation. Ukraine is doing what it needs to do to achieve success on the battlefield, – this is how Deputy Spokesperson for the Pentagon Sabreen Singh commented on the operation in the Kursk region, Voice of America journalist Ostap Yarysh reports on the X network.
Singh added that the United States will continue to support Ukraine with the means it needs, and that Ukraine’s actions in the Kursk region are “consistent with U.S. policy” on the use of the weapons provided.
On August 7, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre emphasized that Ukraine has the right to defend itself against Russia:
It should be remembered that in this region [Курській області] There are Russian troops. They are there, attacking Ukraine from this region. We must not forget about this.
The official stressed that the US will continue to support Ukraine:
We support Ukraine in defending itself against Russian aggression. We think that’s obviously important to do because it’s about democracy and freedom, so we’re going to continue to do that. And they [українці — ред.] are going to take common sense measures to protect themselves from these attacks.
