In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, an 80-year-old woman died from a new strain of COVID-19 FLiRT. This was announced by the General Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Ruslan Savchuk, in a comment to the Public on Wednesday, August 7.
“We confirmed in the laboratory that there is a FLiRT subvariant of the classic Omicron strain in her body. The woman also has similar diseases – diabetes mellitus, heart disease. The main diagnosis is coronavirus disease, because she has all the symptoms and this is clinically and laboratory confirmed,” – he said.

“The woman was transferred to the therapeutic department and after that, a few days later, she died, from the time of hospitalization until she worsened and the patient died, 20 days passed. but COVID-19 took her life, ” – said Savchuk.
We remind you that in July, three cases of the new subvariant of the coronavirus Omicron FLiRT were recorded in Ukraine. Current vaccines and boosters remain effective, however, they do not protect against infection with the new strain.
