The burning of military vehicles by order of the Russians continues. The Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police detained an FSB henchman who operated in Kyiv, Dnepr and Odessa.
On the orders of the Russian special services, a fitness trainer from Odessa set fire to official vehicles of the Defense Forces. According to the SBU counterintelligence, the enemy was most “interested” in military SUVs, pickups, and multi-vehicles.
Russian special services remotely arrested a 32-year-old Odessa resident who was looking for quick money on the Internet.
While “touring” three cities in Ukraine, the suspect attempted to destroy six vehicles of the Defense Forces over the course of several days.
It is documented how the attacker set fire to a Ukrainian Armed Forces multivan in Kyiv. To do this, he arrived from Odessa to the capital, where he rented an apartment for a day. After finding a potential “target” and coordinating it with a Russian curator, his agent purchased flammable liquid and matches.
Disguised in dark clothing and a hat, the suspect arrived at a parked military vehicle at night, set it on fire and filmed the fire on his phone camera.
The enemy agent planned to operate in cities with a population of over a million using a similar algorithm.
SBU officers established the location of the criminal’s hideout in Odessa and detained him. He was in direct contact with a representative of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. The agent received assignments and instructions on how to carry them out from him. During searches of the detainee’s premises, a mobile phone with evidence of his communication with the GRU was seized.
Security Service investigators informed the suspect of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period). The offender is in custody. He faces up to 8 years in prison. The issue of additional qualification of the suspect’s criminal actions is being resolved.
