A video has emerged of the Russian Aerospace Forces Mi-28 being destroyed by an FPV drone. This is the first such documented case in history.
The video was published by volunteer and blogger Sergei Sternenko.
On August 7, Telegram channels reported that on August 6, in the Kursk region, a kamikaze FPV drone damaged a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter. Russian military personnel wrote about the defeats, including Alexey Zemtsov, the host of the Voevoda Broadcasts Telegram channel.
He did not specify the specific model, only indicating that after the crew was hit, they managed to divert and land the aircraft. According to him, the crew is alive, and the helicopter was sent for repairs:
TECH in his message is the technical and operational unit, whose duties include routine maintenance and servicing of aviation equipment. Zemtsov also did not add any other details of the incident.
The Russian army periodically loses such helicopters under various circumstances. For example, at the end of July, one of them burned during a sabotage operation, and another fell and crashed while hunting for a drone.
Over the past 24 hours, a Ka-52 helicopter of the Russian army was also destroyed. As a result of a hard landing, it began to burn, which is why its repair and return to service are impossible.
