Nine employees of the UN Refugee Agency (UNRWA) may have been involved in the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023.
The UN investigation found “sufficient evidence” of this. At the same time, they did not specify what role they played, only that all the workers were men. In total, the investigation was conducted against 19 UNRWA employees (two of whom died), writes the Times of Israel.
Israel claims that UNRWA contains many Hamas and other militants who took part in the October 7 attack on Israel.
Israel claimed that more than 450 UNRWA employees were allegedly fighting in Gaza terror groups. In January 2024, the agency fired an unspecified number of workers for their involvement in an armed attack on Israel.
The UN is currently conducting an investigation, and a number of countries have suspended funding to the agency.
