The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, Nikita Poturaev, said that there are “no and will not be” resources to regulate Telegram.
A member of parliament from the presidential faction said in a conversation with RBC-Ukraine that if there are no resources or opportunities to respond, then it is necessary to shut down, as was the case with VKontakte.
Poturaev says the state has enough evidence that Telegram is affiliated with Russia. When 80% of the population uses an unauthorized social network, it will cost a lot.
In his opinion, a simple bill should be written, the essence of which is that either networks and platforms establish a dialogue with the state, or the state closes them.
This applies to any social networks. What will happen if we do not pay attention to these threats – there will be no Ukraine. Because we cannot talk about any information hygiene, – he noted.
In July, Andrey Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, said that Telegram “actively and quickly interacts” with Russian intelligence services, but Ukraine’s appeals to the messenger remain fruitless.
