This is the first official video of the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles by the Ukrainian Air Force and the first video of the combat use of this missile at all.
In particular, it was filmed how the drops are carried out from a height of close to 500 meters at subsonic speed, while the Su-24s do not perform an anti-aircraft maneuver with a turn and withdrawal on afterburner. That is, the drop occurs at a sufficient distance from the front.
It should be noted that in general there are few videos of the use of Storm Shadow/SCALP and in fact the only one that existed before was the official video from the developer and manufacturer of these missiles – MBDA, with footage shot back in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Moreover, this video is the first public recording of the combat use of these cruise missiles. Although they were previously used during the war against Iraq in 2003, in Libya in 2011, against the Assad regime in Syria and ISIS in Iraq.
But it was precisely the repulse of Russian aggression in Ukraine that became the high point of this missile, with the effective destruction of such targets as the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the still occupied Sevastopol and even a submarine, which became a unique and first-ever event.
