This was reported on August 4 by Axios.
US Gen. Michael Kurilla, the top US commander in the Middle East, arrived in the region on Saturday as preparations are underway for a possible Iranian attack on Israel in retaliation for the killings of senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, two US officials said.
Kurilla is expected to try to mobilize the same international and regional coalition that defended Israel from an attack by Iran on April 13, a U.S. official told reporters.
Three American and Israeli sources said they expect Iran to attack Israel as early as Monday.
Jordan will be a key stop on Kurilla’s trip. The Jordanians played a major role in the April 13 attack, intercepting Iranian drones that had entered their territory and were headed for Israel, and allowing American and Israeli aircraft to use their airspace to intercept Iranian drones. The U.S. hopes to do the same if necessary, the official said.
American and Israeli officials also said they did not know whether Iran and Hezbollah would carry out a coordinated attack or act separately.
They added that they believed both Iran and Lebanese militants were still working to finalize their military plans and get them approved at the political level.
Let us recall that on the night of August 4, dozens of Hezbollah rockets were fired from Israel and Lebanon.
