On Friday, August 2, missile forces units in cooperation with units of the Ukrainian Navy significantly damaged four launchers of the Triumph anti-aircraft missile system. Also, the Russian Black Sea Fleet submarine Rostov-on-Don was hit in the port of Sevastopol. After being hit, the submarine sank on the spot. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
The military recalled that on September 13, 2023, Rostov-on-Don was seriously damaged as a result of a missile attack. After that, the ship was repaired in the Sevastopol harbor.
It is noted that this submarine is one of four Kilo-class submarines capable of using Kalibr cruise missiles. Rostov-on-Don was commissioned on December 26, 2014, its cost is estimated at $300 million.
The destruction of the Rostov-on-Don once again proves that there is no safe place for the Russian fleet in the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea, the General Staff noted.
Let us recall that Ukrainian Telegram channels reported that on August 2, a position of the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system could have been hit in occupied Sevastopol. It was stated that four launchers based on the MAZ-543 and a 92N6 radar were destroyed at once.
