Access to the social network Instagram is blocked in Turkey.
.in_text_content_22 { width: 300px; height: 600px; } @media(min-width: 600px) { .in_text_content_22 { width: 580px; height: 400px; } }
Turkey’s Information and Communications Technology Authority did not provide a reason or duration for the ban. The platform’s mobile app is also unavailable in Turkey, Bloomberg and Reuters reported.
The media speculates that the restriction of access may be related to the platform’s decision to remove posts offering condolences in connection with the death of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh on July 31.
The head of the communications department of the Turkish presidential administration, Fahrettin Altun, condemned Instagram’s actions yesterday and called it “pure censorship.”
The official reason for the blocking is still unknown. Meta has not yet commented on the situation.
As of today, the Instagram.com domain is not available in Turkey. Users write that the mobile application does not show new content and displays an error message.
Let us recall that one of the leaders of Hamas, Ismail Ganiya, who was in special residences for war veterans in the north of Tehran, the capital of Iran, was killed on July 31. The media called it one of the most successful operations of the Israel Defense Forces.
