Ukrainians bought a record amount of money in 12 years

The amount of foreign currency purchased by the population in July broke a 12-year record. Net foreign currency purchases totaled $1.117 billion.

In July 2024, Ukrainians bought a record amount of money in almost 12 years (in November 2012 – $1.523 billion). This was reported by the National Bank.

It was noted that the population of Ukraine sold cash and non-cash money to commercial banks in the amount of $1.658 billion (equivalent) and bought in the amount of $2.775 billion. Net foreign currency purchases totaled $1.117 billion.

Compared to June, the volume of purchases increased by 14.9%, when Ukrainians bought $972 million. Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainians bought $6.356 billion from banks.

Earlier it was reported that the National Bank of Ukraine reduced sales of foreign currency against the backdrop of a modest increase in the Hryvnia exchange rate.

The official dollar exchange rate continued its growth
