Specialists of the State Emergency Service carried out awareness-raising work among children and adults on the importance of following mine safety rules.
In the village of Sa Marushevka, Zvyagel district, two boys, 10 and 11 years old, found ammunition from past wars in a trash can and brought it home in a wheelbarrow to the garden. The press service of the State Emergency Service reported this the previous day, July 31.
To show the find to the adults, the children decided to use a two-wheeled wheelbarrow in the garden, because the 152-mm artillery shells turned out to be heavy.
“Fortunately, everything is fine with the children the parents immediately called 101. And the sappers of the State Emergency Service, who immediately arrived when called, took the dangerous find and destroyed it by detonating it in a specially designated area,” the message noted.
