The Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov and told him that one of the employees of the Russian embassy had been declared persona non grata. The press service of the ministry reported this on Thursday, August 1.

A day before in Chisinau, after searches of the parliament, two people were detained on the charge of high treason.
One of those detained, according to media reports, is the head of the parliament’s legal department, Ion Creange. He was allegedly arrested while sending information to employees of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
“We see all these actions as very unfriendly,” the Russian ambassador said in a conversation with reporters after a call to the Foreign Ministry, Newsmaker wrote.
Vasnetsov said that “the investigation is still ongoing, and … it is very strange that the declaration of persona non grata occurs at a time when no evidence has been obtained.” In addition, he assured that Russia will definitely respond to this step of Moldova.
A day earlier it was reported that security forces were conducting a search of the Parliament of Moldova, allegedly related to the treason case.
