As the Russian service of Radio Liberty writes, the following have disappeared from the US database:
- Vladislav Klyushin, a contractor for Russian security ministries, has been convicted of insider stock trading.
- Alexander Vinnik, convicted of laundering four billion dollars through crypto exchanges.
- Maxim Marchenko, convicted of evading US sanctions against Russia.
-
Roman Seleznev, the son of Russian State Duma deputy Valery Seleznev, and several other people were convicted of cyber fraud.
Klyushin has previously been mentioned as a potential participant in a prisoner exchange that could be arranged between Russia and the United States.
Leading American media outlets reported on negotiations on a possible exchange, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
Slovenian TV channel N1 reports that Russia, the USA, Germany and Belarus will hold a large-scale prisoner exchange on July 31. Several other countries are taking part in the exchange.
For example, two spies convicted in Slovenia under the names Ludwig Gish and Maria Rosa Mayer Munoz (real names – Artem and Anna Dulcu) may return to Russia. They worked in Russia, but pretended to be Argentine citizens.
The spies were arrested in December 2022. The court found them guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment for one year and five months. Since the stay in the pretrial detention center is part of the sentence, the perpetrators are effectively free and became part of the exchange list.
The investigation established that the spies’ cover in Slovenia was a computer company and an online art gallery, as well as an office in the capital.
The TV channel notes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin used this method to include Vadim Krasikov, a probable FSB officer convicted in Germany for the murder of former Chechen field commander Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, on the lists.
A number of countries resisted Krasikov’s inclusion in the list for a long time. Therefore, the Russian Federation exerted pressure on them through Belarus. In particular, the republic sentenced German citizen Rick Krieger to death in order to have leverage over the German government.
Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich may be on the exchange list in Russia.
