The perpetrators were a couple from Cherkasy Oblast who now live in Petropavlovsk Borshagovka. The investigation established that on July 29, they doused three cars with a flammable solution and set them on fire. One of them belonged to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the other two were supposed to be handed over to the military by volunteers. The cohabitants filmed the arson on their phones and sent it to the person who ordered it. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine.
It turned out that the arsonists, a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, were looking for quick money on the Internet. In early July, a man from Russia contacted them via Telegram and offered to pay $1,000 for setting military vehicles on fire. The attackers received only half the amount.
The law enforcement officers detained a couple of arsonists immediately after committing the crime. They confiscated the incendiary mixture and mobile phones, which they used to receive instructions from their supervisor.
Both have already been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 (committing a crime by a group of persons) and Part 1 of Article 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to eight years in prison.
Let us recall that on July 30, the Third Assault Brigade reported that the day before in Kyiv, three unknown individuals burned a car that was used to transport wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
