The airstrike took place on Tuesday, July 30. The strike was aimed at killing senior Hezbollah member Fuad Shukr, who was responsible for the children killed in a rocket attack in Majdal Shams. According to unconfirmed reports, the Israelis achieved their goal.
The strike hit the southern suburbs of Beirut. There is no information about civilian casualties yet. There is destruction of buildings.
Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin, is a senior adviser to the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah. Several years ago, Israel named him as the head of Hezbollah’s precision missile project.
As is known, as a result of the strike on the Israeli village of Majdal Shams on July 27, 12 children – teenagers from 10 to 12 years old – were killed. More than 40 people were wounded. Then a football field came under fire.
Recall that on July 29, Turkish President Ercep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the Turkish army “may enter Israel,” as it did earlier in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh.
Following this, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said that “Erdogan is following in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatening to attack Israel,” so he “needs to remember how that ended.”
