This weapon, under the conventional and unofficial designation “Iskander-1000”, allegedly has a firing range of up to 1,000 km and a modified warhead. The enemy first “displayed” a sample of this weapon in May 2024 in a propaganda video for the 78th anniversary of the Kapustin Yar missile test site. This was reported by Defense Express.
It is noted that hostile propaganda claims that the new missile has a probability of deviation from the target of five meters. At the same time, the aggressor claims that the updated Iskander uses an “autonomous inertial guidance system, probably with a correction system based on satellite navigation data and possibly with radar guidance based on a map of the terrain in the target area at the final stage of flight.”
According to Russian media, the Iskander-1000 missile is allegedly structurally similar to the 9M723 ballistic missile in the Iskander OTRK. At the same time, it is claimed that it is possible to use a standard launcher for the standard Iskander.
Recall that on 18 October, an Iskander missile was shot down in the Odessa region. This was the first time a ballistic missile was shot down in a region of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Navy called the damage a landmark event.
