After 57 years, a “significant portion of icons” have disappeared from the Pochayiv Lavra. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.

The UOC MP carried out repairs without permission, built extensions, changed structures and restored monuments without having the appropriate permits. This led to the loss of authentic elements and increased the load on their structures, Ukrinform reports.
In addition, the commission found that a significant portion of the icons had disappeared. The Lavra also recorded violations of fire safety regulations.
