For now, the fighting in the Pokrovsk direction continues virtually non-stop. This is the hottest section of the front, because the enemy is concentrating maximum efforts here.

Today, Progress is not ours. Volchye is not ours. I cannot say that this happened because of one factor. These are issues of personnel training, understanding of management principles, the number of ammunition and equipment, the competence of the officer and management staff, and the motivation of people. Unfortunately, this is war,” comments the loss of two settlements in the Pokrovsky direction, the battalion commander of the 47th OMBR “Magura” Alexander Shirshin (call sign Geniy).
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 assaults on July 25, Nazar Voloshin, spokesman for the Khortytsia Special Operations Command, told LIGA.net. Since the beginning of July 26 (as of 16:00), there have been another 23. This is almost a third of all attacks in a day.
The fiercest battles took place in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvizhenka, Ivanovka, Timofeyevka, Veseloye, Novoselovka Pervaya, Novoaleksandrovka, Novozhelanne, Yasnobrodovka, Progress and Kalinovo. The highest concentration of enemy attacks per day was recorded near Novoselovka Pervaya.
The intensity of the fighting is very high, the commander of the 47th separate mechanized brigade “Magura” Alexander Shirshin (call sign Geniy) clarified to LIGA.net.
For several days, social networks wrote about the threat of a cordon for some of the personnel of the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Progress area. On the night of July 25, as DeepState analysts reported, fighters from the 1st and 3rd battalions were able to successfully break out of the complete encirclement, in which they found themselves at several observation posts.
The fighters are alive and continue to hold back the enemy. The 31st and 47th separate mechanized brigades remain the main pillars of defense in that area. Of course, not without the help of the assigned units, of which there are quite a lot, the DeepState report says.
LIGA.net was unable to either confirm or deny the information about the loss of two settlements in Voloshin.
The fighting continues, he said.
For assaults, the Russians use a lot of infantry, says Shirshin.
Several times, 30 people tried to storm not even a position, but a small observation post. Plus, reserves were pulled up. They ran across the field in all directions, – he says. – Another example – more than 100 people ran into one point. They did not run in a planned manner to a specific area, house, position. They simply scattered in different directions like ants.
It is unclear how the actions of such “scattered assaults” are coordinated, the battalion commander adds. Not all occupiers have a radio, only the senior ones in the groups. The personnel are scattered across the field. It is impossible to control such actions: “How are they supposed to know where to shoot, how to shoot, how to build their order when they move? An assault is a complex process of coordination. They don’t have it.”
Most likely, this is just meat, with which the enemy is trying to exhaust the Ukrainian defenders, the battalion commander adds. There can be many such infantry raids during the day.
It’s effectively a non-stop battle, says Genius.
At the same time, according to him, the Russians are storming despite the losses.
Some of them were suffocated, some were three hundred, but they continue, without stopping, without providing assistance, – Shirshin says. – Even if, for example, one of them remains – this one continues the assault. He throws grenades, shoots back, hides, but still pushes forward. It is not like a couple of hits – and he stops and goes back. No, he pushes on.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians also practically do not use either armored or wheeled vehicles, says Shirshin. They operate mainly with infantry.
They even rarely use buggies now, he says. I can’t remember the last time I saw a motorcycle. Everyone is on foot. The prisoners we took say: “We’re afraid to ride equipment, they burn it.” Besides, the battalions and companies in our area don’t have enough equipment to afford it.”
The Russians are indeed saving equipment, confirms Alexander Kovalenko, military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, to LIGA.net:
They have a shortage of equipment. They are trying to moderate their losses.
In addition, according to Shirshin, the Russians have comparatively reduced the use of guided aerial bombs in the Pokrovsk direction.
So that they fly periodically, but not too intensively, – he says. – Plus they often do everything in great detail: either they have reconnoitred certain information about where there is a concentration of personnel or equipment, or the locals have passed on some important details about elements or positions in the rear or close to it. That is where they work.
It is also felt that the Russians are constantly trying to improve their technical reconnaissance equipment. The issue of using electronic warfare and UAVs is now extremely relevant for the fighters here, he says: “Unfortunately, we generally lack a systematic approach and a global search for a solution to this issue. Therefore, we have big problems.”
So far, events are developing within the framework of the predicted task of the Defense Forces – to exhaust the occupation forces as much as possible, says Kovalenko. Even at the cost of losing positions.
The battles for Toretsk are now a priority for the Russian occupation forces, the analyst explains. – It can be expected that the Russians will strive to capture Vozdvizhenka and reach the Pokrovsk-Konstantinovka highway.
The main efforts of the Russians in the near future will be directed to the Eastern Front, General Staff spokesman Vladislav Seleznev tells LIGA.net. However, he will not abandon attempts to attack even where the situation has recently become more or less stable.
It is important for the Russians to put maximum pressure, he believes. So that the Ukrainian General Staff is forced to reflect and stretch out relatively small reserves in other areas of the front, instead of sending them to where they are most needed – the Pokrovsk direction. It is the key one for them.
The global goal of the Russians remains unchanged – reaching the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, concludes Voloshin:
However, the Defense Forces give an adequate and worthy response to the enemy. He suffers heavy losses there – both personnel and equipment.
