China’s support for Russia’s war of occupation against Ukraine “negatively affects the relationship between the EU and China.”
China could use its influence with Russia to stop the war in Ukraine. This was said on Friday, July 26, by the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the European External Action Service reports.
It is indicated that the head of European diplomacy raised the issues of war and Chinese influence in the Russian Federation in a meeting with the representative of China on the sidelines of the ASEAN regional forum in Laos.
He noted that China’s support for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine “negatively affects the relationship between the EU and the PRC” and expressed concern about China’s export of “a large number of goods and dual-use items” in the Russian Federation.
“The EU High Representative asked China to use its influence with Russia to help end the war. He asked China to support the peace process in Ukraine,” the report said.
We remind you that this week Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba visited China. During the negotiations, his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi said that the PRC is in favor of starting negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
