President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine is proud of its athletes who, despite the war, were able to prepare for Olympic competitions. The president published the corresponding statement on the eve of the opening of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris on Telegram on Friday, July 26.
“We are proud of our team – the men who, despite this aggressive war, were able to prepare for the Olympics and showed the spirit of all Ukrainians.
Zelensky said that at the Olympics “our people, our flag and our anthem” include everyone who respects “life, human values, the principles of Olympism and fair rules.”
“We root for Ukraine. We believe in Ukraine,” he added.
It should be noted that Zelensky on Wednesday, July 24, spoke with Ukrainian athletes who will participate in the Summer Olympic Games, which will last from July 26 to August 11 in Paris.
