The 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks bought by the Netherlands and Denmark for Ukraine will be delivered this summer after repairs and a series of tests. This was announced by the Dutch Ministry of Defense on Thursday, July 25.
It is indicated that the Netherlands, together with Denmark, bought 14 used Leopard 2A4 tanks, which were repaired by the German concern Rheinmetall.
The last two tanks are undergoing verification tests, and the first 12 are ready for shipment. All 14 tanks will be delivered by the end of the summer.
“Ukraine urgently needs additional military support due to the intense fighting. These tanks can play an important role in protecting the Ukrainian army from Russian troops,” said Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
He assured that the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine together with allies and partners as long as necessary.
Earlier in July, it became known that Spain began transferring 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. The military aid shipment also included a large number of anti-tank missiles.
Germany, along with Denmark, also transferred 10 Leopard 1 A5 tanks for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
