Following Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race, some members of the Republican Party called for his resignation from the presidency of the United States.
US President Joe Biden will not resign before the end of his presidential term. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said this in a briefing on Wednesday, July 24.
“Before the end of his term, the current president is determined to achieve greater success for the country. We believe that any calls for his resignation are meaningless,” said Jean-Pierre.
He emphasized that President Biden has made significant progress since the beginning of his term.
“He has accomplished more than any two-term president… And he wants to finish the job he started and achieve even more historic results for the American people,” a White House spokesman said.
Jean-Pierre added that President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race because he believed it would be better for the United States.
He quoted a written message sent by the president on Sunday: “It is in the best interest of my party, my country, that I withdraw (from the race – ed.) and focus solely on fulfilling my office as president for the remainder of my term.”
Let’s remember that on July 21, Biden announced that he was withdrawing from the election. This happened after pressure from Democrats after a disastrous debate with US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. He assured that he will not resign early and will remain president until the end of his term.
